WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO TRAVEL FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE RECOMMENDED HOTELS?

Please contact the hotels to organize transportation pickup/dropoff for you since the airport is 30-45 minutes away. If staying at an Airbnb/VRBO, please reach out to one of the drivers on the Transportation page.

IS IT SAFE TO TAKE TAXIS?

We recommend you use Uber.

WHEN DO YOU RECOMMEND WE ARRIVE?

To get acclimated to Quito’s altitude, we recommend arriving on Thursday prior to the wedding. If you arrive earlier, we are happy to help recommend additional activities to explore Quito or Ecuador.

IS THERE A WAY TO BEST ACCLIMATE TO THE ALTITUDE?

Devon has found that drinking an entire bottle of water and taking an Advil or two on the plane helps with the initial feeling of altitude. Adriano has found that a good night’s sleep and taking it easy the first day helps him adjust best.

IS THERE ANYTHING SPECIFIC WE SHOULD BRING TO QUITO?

Yes, please bring sunscreen! Quito has an elevation of almost 10,000 ft so the sun is extremely strong. Please do not forget sunglasses, hats, etc.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN QUITO?

Since Quito is right on the equator, it is the same temperature year around! Highs are typically in the mid-60s with lows in the mid-40s. It is best to pack with light layers so you are not cold. Pashminas will be provided for the night of the wedding at the venue.

WHAT ARE THE TOP ECUADORIAN DISHES I SHOULD TRY IN QUITO?

Hornado, Fritada, Locro de Papas, Ceviche (which is also the best cure for a hangover), Tigrillo.
